Monday, August 25th an important Congressional Hearing is scheduled that you can be part of. Oregon’s Congressman Greg Walden is hosting a Congressional field hearing on forest health, fire and other issues in Redmond, Oregon at the fairgrounds. The hearing will begin at 2 pm and take place in the South Sisters Building. House Resources Committee Chairman Richard Pombo of California will also be in attendance. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to make your feelings known and heard on the Healthy Forests Restoration Act (HR 1904) currently before Congress. The Senate is using the House Number HR 1904 for the bill. At 12:00, a pre-hearing rally will take place also on the fairgrounds…close to the hearing room. There will be great speakers and refreshments. We want to send the Senate a clear message in this rally and hearing: pass the Healthy Forests Restoration Act now! You need to be part of a strong crowd to send a powerful message. The news media will be there so let’s make sure we have a loud, boisterous crowd. We also expect some protests from radical environmental groups so we need to make sure we dwarf them in size, numbers and volume!
