The usual host has to be out of town and no alternative was offered. We’ll plan to meet Thursday evening in the Best Western Pentagon Lobby at 6:30 PM and go to one or more restaurants of your choice. Friday ESA Meeting: The morning beginning at 10:00 AM will be devoted to discussing how better to work together and avoid the kind of personal attacks and controversy that occurred last year with regard to the Endangered Species Act. We’ll have lunch at approximately noon. In the afternoon we’ll have visits by various staff from the Senate to talk about plans for the ESA. The first presentation will begin at 1:00 PM. Friday dinner plans are open for individual choice and small groups. Saturday Strategy Meeting: The meeting starts at 10:00 AM. We’ll have Administration and Congressional guests starting at 1:00 PM in the afternoon. The last couple of years we have not had enough time to talk among ourselves. We’ll try to provide more time this year. Of course our friends from the Administration and Congress are invited to participate anytime. Saturday night at 6:30 PM we’ll be going to Jim and Becky Streeters lovely home in Chevy Chase, Maryland for dinner. The address is 3615 Raymond St in Chevy Chase. That is three blocks East of Connecticut Ave. Jim’s cell is (301) 385-4268. The home number is (301) 652-4267. You can bring special meats if you have he ability to do that and certainly bring wine. Contributions toward buying food for this very nice event will be appreciated. Sunday Strategy Meeting: As usual the meeting starts at 9:00 AM and runs until 2:00. Some people may have to leave early to catch planes. Here’s a reminder on the hotel and meeting room reservations. Our meetings will be held at the Best Western Pentagon at 2480 S. Glebe Rd, Arlington Virginia 22206. Call (703) 979-4400 to make reservations. Ask for the Leadership Meeting to get the special rate. You can stay where you want but we have reserved a block of rooms at the Best Western Pentagon at a great rate of $79 per night for a single, $89 per night for a double. If you have any problem, ask for sales manager Laurie Donovan. The Best Western Pentagon has a continental breakfast, free shuttle to the airport, shopping and other amenities as well as a fitness room and computer center. The hotel is right at exit 7 on I-395. A very quick cab ride from Capitol Hill. Meeting time double check: The meeting will start at 10:00 AM Friday, January 20 and run until 5:00 PM. Saturday, January 21st the meeting will begin at 10:00 AM and run until 5:00 PM. Sunday, January 22nd will begin at 9:00 AM and run until 2:00 PM. Be sure to plan plane flights accordingly.
