The reason we are having this rally is because the Mohegan Tribal Council is coming to Vancouver to wine and dine folks at a reception and to say what a great opportunity this Mega-Casino will be…
This is your chance to tell the Mohegans to keep their money.
They are going to take all their winnings back to Connecticut anyway so Clark County won’t see much, if any, net benefit.
You should want your dollars to go into local businesses so the money stays in Clark County.
Don’t let them put many small businesses out of business while exporting your money back to Connecticut.
***** The purpose of our rally is to:
-----1. Educate the public that this project is wrong for our community.
-----2. To tell people that this is the wrong location
-----3. To highlight the adverse impacts that a Las Vegas style casino brings.
-----4. Say “no thanks” to the Mohegan Tribal Council personally.
Here is an update on our event for Friday:
When: Friday, October 21st.
Organize between 3:00 and 3:30 PM
Where: at the SE end of Esther Short Park, near the clock tower.
Rules of engagement:
-----A. IMPERATIVE – PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT IS A MUST!
-----B. WE WILL BE ORDERLY AND OBEY ALL OF THE LAWS OF OUR CITY AND STATE.
-----C. THIS WILL BE A FUN EVENT. BRING YOUR KIDS. THEY’LL HAVE A GREAT TIME.
If the Cowlitz are successful sneaking in their casino, many people will complain in the future and say, “ Why didn’t we fight this when we had the chance.”
Well, you have the chance. Now is your chance.
Don’t put yourself in the position of having to explain to your kids, friends and others why the quality of life in Clark County went downhill so drastically on your watch.
Signs will be available; if you want to bring your own homemade sign do so.
Remember to use a large tip marker. Use a bold dark colors like black, green, blue, red, brown etc.
Keep the message simple and clear and professional! For example:
“No Reservation Shopping”,
“Wrong Location”,
“Maintain our quality of life”,
“Not the future I had in mind for my kids”
Some addition sign ideas are listed below.
We’ll organize between 3:00 and 3:30 PM. Don’t worry if you have to come late. Things will keep going until around 5:00 or even later if people want to stay.
Usually at these kind of events, people find out they are so much fun, they want to stay longer and are sorry when they are over. The kids rarely want to leave.
Plan on attending and bring a couple of friends.
If you have a digital camera bring it to take pictures.
