Over the years, Private Property Rights advocates have used many visual tools to demonstrate their views. Two of the most successful have been the Clinton Free Zone and Stop Clinton's War on the West.

The Clinton Free Zone campaign is a backlash protest against the extreme policies of the Clinton Administration, not a personal attack on the President. It is a way for families and communities to send a powerful message to the Administration. Stop the War on the West is a more general protest about the enlarged bureaucracy that we are faced with everyday in dealing with regulatory agencies. Members of Congress will be less inclined to support extreme proposals when faced with thousands of Clinton Free Zone and War on the West posters, buttons and T-shirts throughout their district and state.

It appears that President Clinton has lost touch with rural America. He has joined the environmental groups in their attack on jobs and the economy. The Administration indicated by its spotted owl decision in the Pacific Northwest that it was going to extremes in environmental protection and was far less concerned about the economic damage to people, communities, the economy, and jobs. Timber-dependent communities responded with a campaign to designate homes, businesses, communities and entire counties as official Clinton Free Zones. They're convinced the Clinton Administration has given up any pretense of being "balanced" and is pandering instead to the radical environmentalists.

Grazing, mining and private property dependent communities have gradually joined the campaign as other Clinton Administration decisions wreak havoc on their communities. Decisions are coming out of DC almost daily increasing government regulation of jobs on private and public lands ecosystem management, wetlands, endangered species, biodiversity, World Heritage sites, etc. Communities suffering economic damage from these proposals must send a strong message to Congress now that new and dangerous Administration policies will inflict more economic hardship. The Administration appears to have lost touch with saving jobs and improving the economy. Congress must aggressively oppose the President's extreme and punitive policies. We can't wait three more years.
